Little looks: Derby style

While I love being from the Midwest, there is a part of me that will always want to be a southern belle. I love me a loud pastel print, seersucker and monogrammed everything. So when the Kentucky Derby rolls around every year, I love following along to see everyone’s fabulous attire.

To me, there is nothing cuter than when my boys dress up in colorful pastels and plaids. In honor of the 144th annual Kentucky Derby, scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 5, I decided to round-up my favorite little looks!

BeaverdaleLittleLeague[some serious nostalgia last night at my old ballpark]

Brunch is one of my most favorite things. I mean, who doesn’t love breakfast goodies combined with bottomless mimosas?! I am hosting this weekend and I’m trying to decide whether to whip up a bunch of my favorite blueberry scones.

While this amazing egg hunt kicked off last weekend at Des Moines’ Water Works park, I’m just now getting around to hearing about it. Over 500 eggs were placed throughout the expansive park at least 3 feet away from trails, making exploration off the beaten path key to finding any.

Mother’s Day is not too far off, so I’ve been busy lately doing a whole bunch of custom silhouettes for clients. They are the perfect gift for the moms/grandmas in your life and they make the best keepsake.

Life lately: spring has sprung

As of this past weekend it finally feels like spring has arrived here in Iowa. And, boy, did we need it!

We have been spending every moment that we can outside soaking up that vitamin D and making all sorts of memories in the process. Which is why posting on here has been slow and sparse as of late.

You can always follow along with our family on Instagram. I have an undying love for Instagram Stories and love sharing our daily antics there!

[so. much. attitude.]

While in Target over the weekend, I noticed this Sunn Lab swimsuit on the sale rack and was immediately drawn to it because it was gingham. It found its way into my cart and when I tried it on at home later I was pleasantly surprised. So excited to wear this one if the weather ever decides to cooperate. (Note: Save 25% on women’s suits from Target with code SWIM. Offer expires 4/21 at 11:59pm PT.)

I may be behind on this, but the reboot of Queer Eye is, in Jonathan’s words, “giving me life.” Put this on your Netflix binge list for the weekend.

I’ve never been much of a gamer except for my Nintendo power pad days, but over spring break my little sister introduced me to Wordscapes and I’m hooked.

TTD faves: Cheerily

A week ago I was deep in the depths of a Facebook group when a photo came across my screen of the cutest little babe in a sweatshirt that said ‘Momma’s Mini’ and I had to know where it was from. With a little sleuthing, I found that it was a custom design from a site called Cheerily.

Lorna Diwa, creator of Cheerily, wanted to help people celebrate the parents and babies in their lives. With no kids herself, but friends that do, she often found herself devoting a lot of energy towards finding thoughtful gifts for new parents and babies. Existing gifting sites lacked selection, so she eventually began making the gifts herself or curating gift bundles for her friends.

I placed my order immediately, and am so happy with how it turned out. I think Everett is too. That is, until he can learn how to read.

And can we talk about how perfect the packaging is?! Such a great idea for gifting!

I’m so excited to share that Cheerily is offering a discount code to all of my readers! You can enter code TTD15 at checkout to take 15% off your order. The code can only be used once per person and it expires on May 31, 2018. Happy shopping friends!

[he’s always on the move]

After Marcus and I made it through a self-imposed “frugal March” I was feeling the need for a little shopping this week and J.Crew was having quite the sale. I snagged this striped tee because out of all the stripes in my closet, I don’t have a short sleeved version. (Also added to card: gingham bow tie, camo shorts and cerise tie top)

Everett failed two eye screenings recently and is going to the eye doctor today for the first time. Neither Marcus nor I have glasses, so we aren’t quite sure what to expect, but dang he is going to look so stinkin’ cute in specs. I’ve already been doing a little research and I love some of the pairs from Jonas Paul Eyewear. Stay tuned…

I will forever be Sandlot obsessed, so when I saw this spot on The Today Show I may have freaked out.

TTD faves: Hunter x Target

I was already a fan of the Hunter brand before they announced joining up with Target earlier this year. The boys live in their wellie boots (the first classic in red is my personal fave) and I even have an old blue+yellow lace-up pair for myself that I found discounted at Marshall’s.

Like most Target collabs, I tend to like seeing items in person before purchasing, and I think that will be the same for this one as well.

So in anticipation for the Hunter for Target collaboration to hits stores this weekend, I thought I would round-up what is on my personal wishlist.

TTD faves: Cali girl

It’s been a month since we left for our SoCal vacay (Catch up here: Disneyland + parts one // two // three) and I am still trying to incorporate that cool Cali girl vibe into my everyday attire.

I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite ways to recreate that laid back style even if the ocean is thousands of miles away and sunshine and warm weather is hard to come by these days.
