Sidney’s Street

T.G.I. the weekend update: The weekend was wonderful as most of it was spent with friends and family. On Saturday my mom and I ran around to a few stores and I watched Sid as she “helped” Grandpa pick up walnuts in my parents’ backyard. It reminded me of when us girls were kids and we’d get paid 25 cents per bucket that we picked up. Child labor was cheap!

Probably getting $5/bucket!

On Sunday we took advantage of the cooler weather and made our way to Picket Fence Creamery for their State Fair Sample Sunday event. Their fresh peach ice cream was sure tasty!

In the afternoon we celebrated our niece Sofia’s 2nd birthday. Could she be any cuter in her stylish party outfit?

Speaking of 2nd birthday parties, the Bean’s is quickly approaching and of course we’ve had the theme picked out for almost a year now . It will be based on her favorite show, Sesame Street, but we’ll call it Sidney Street. My sisters and I have been collecting ideas in our Pinterest group for a while, but here are a few of my faves.

T.G.I. the weekend

Wee ones update: There is something so special about watching a couple grow together. Nate and Kate are one of those couples. A little background: Marcus and Nate are the bestest of buds and spent a few years together as roommates. It was during that time spent at The Plaza downtown that they both met their future wives – Kate and myself. (Best thing to ever happen to both of them if you ask us.) Fast-forward to the present day: Marcus and I tied the knot and Nate and Kate are married with two of the cutest kids in the world, Mia and Theo. One of which I met for the first time tonight. Talk about precious.

I am so ready for the weekend especially since the recent evening temps have been in the 50s! Not quite sure what we will be up to, but I’ll leave you with this picture I received tonight from my sister, Morgan, who was hanging out with the Bean.

Batter up update: I finished putting together the invites for my sister and I just love how they turned out. Quite fitting for the little slugger-to-be don’t you think?

It's a boy - baseball

Tomorrow I get to go meet our good friends, Nate and Kate’s new baby boy, Theodore. I am just sure he will be cuter than I can possibly imagine. Yeah babies!

With so many pregnancies and newborns lately, I decided to put together a little new addition gift guide. These items are perfect for the wee ones popping up in your lives.

Beaux or bow update: I don’t usually like to admit when I’m wrong, but I had a 50/50 chance of being right tonight and lost. I could’ve sworn Allison and Jerry were going to have the first baby boy, but they have been blessed with another little lady. We are tickled PINK and can’t wait to meet her on Christmas Eve!

Babies, babies everywhere right now. This week I am putting the finishing touches on a little baby shower invite side project that I’ve been working on. The mom-to-be is having a future MVP and has decided on a baseball-themed baby shower. Too cute! Here is my inspiration board:

Lulu in the village update: I kicked the weekend off right with a little Friday afternoon potluck at work and a highly competitive Office Olympics. Check out some of the awesome themed food:

On Saturday I finally made it down to the East Village to scope out the new Lululemon showroom. I left with a fancy bag in hand (I got this) and a few more items to add to my gift wish list.

Today I spent as much time as I could outdoors enjoying the cool breeze that magically appeared after the much-needed showers we received yesterday. I ran into this kid too!

Tomorrow is my sister-in-law’s big gender reveal – what will it be?! So far it’s been all girls for us, so I think we are due for a baby boy. Only time will tell though and she is going to fill us in on the big news by having us over for some very special cupcakes. I love the idea of a gender reveal party, do you?

Zita in Iowa update: We went over to my parents house last night to hang with Grandma and to celebrate my bro-in-law’s birthday with a fab take-out dinner from Marino’s. After dinner we were all glued to the TV watching the Fab 5 take home the gold in women’s gymnastics. Check out who else has Olympic fever…

Remember when I was on the quest for the perfect workout pants and was lusting for the Groove Pant from Lululemon? Well, it’s going to be more dangerous now because a brand spankin’ new Lululemon Showroom is officially opening tomorrow in the East Village. I can’t wait to check out the space and possibly even join them for a free yoga class!

Zita in Iowa

Everything in its place update: Yes, a week just went by and I did not post a single blog. I will tell you why that happened in just one word – Olympics. It has officially sucked me in and considered it only happens once every two years, I’m okay with it.

While I wasn’t cheering for our hometown fave Gabby or debating whether or not to make Team Lochte shirts, I was actually getting a few things done around the house – including checking off something on my to do list. I think I found the perfect solution for storing my stationery thanks to a quick trip to T. J.Maxx. Love that place!

Speaking of fabulous paper goods, check out this wedding invite we got in the mail this weekend. It was made by the same uber-creative couple that brought us this save the date video. Too cute for words John and Hillary!

My Grandma Zita is in town this week, so I plan on spending as much time as possible hanging out with her. Family first when it comes to my to do list.

Operation organize update: I’m pretty sure we can label The Purge a SUCCESS! While going through my closet I divided items I no longer wanted into three piles: Goodwill, Plato’s Closet and WORN. Here’s how things are lookin’ now:

The Purge: Part II

After I dug my way out of the closet it was on to my desk and bookshelf area. Our townhome came furnished and with it came massive bookshelves full of books that we’ll never touch. After almost three years it was time to get rid of the excess and tidy up what we wanted to keep.

Over the past decade I have accumulated quite the stationery collection – most of it coming from one of my favorite stores, Paper-Source. After corralling it all together while sifting through boxes this weekend, I’m on the hunt for a creative way to store it so that I can see what all I have. Any ideas?

Here is how two of my favorite bloggers store their stationery:

Whole lotta fun update: We headed over to the brand-spankin’-new Whole Foods tonight and it did not disappoint. We tried out a few truffle cheeses and  a whole bunch of cold salads and they were all de-lish! Can’t wait to do some more exploring in their aisles when things die down a bit. After we got home, we celebrated with warm peach hand pies, a recipe that I snagged from the Whole Foods website.

We shall dub this upcoming weekend The Purge because that is exactly what will be happening in my house. The main areas I’m wanting to organize are the closets (yes, I have multiple), DVDs and books and my desk area. Here are some of the organization photos that I’ve found on Pinterest that I’m thinkin’ might work for my space:

Whole lotta fun

Say Ambular update: Good times were had this weekend as the DMI got just a little bit Hays-ier. Amber and I had a blast running around town hitting up all my fave local haunts.

Amber's visit

L to R, top to bottom: Ham & brie at La Mie, Loubs at WORN (didn’t bite the bullet and buy), Sauvignon Blanc at WineStyles, a tired Karl, a successful Von Maur trip, Big Barn Harley store, tasty scone from Smokey Row and a beautiful Saturday morning at the Downtown Farmers’ Market.

In honor of the new Whole Foods opening this Wednesday,  I am planning on whipping up a WF recipe to get in the mood. Will you be going to the grand opening in two days? I’m going to walk there from my house to snag some dinner after work.
