Diamonds are a girl’s best friend update: Well, wouldn’t you know it. The weather was kind of dicey on Friday night, so we just decided to head to Django for dinner instead. If you are heading there any time soon, I highly recommend the French Toast dessert. YUM!

After a trip to the Downtown Farmers’ Market early Saturday morning, I popped into La Mie to pick up a pasty to go. It’s what the baby wanted 😉

I spent the rest of my Saturday hanging with the Bean since Marcus had ‘gone fishing.’

Sidney's convertible

Sunday the weather was so beautiful and I spent it with dad-to-be, Marcus, going on an adventure to find the perfect crib for Baby B. After that, we spent the evening dining with my family and showering my dad with love.

Father's Day 2013

The plan for this week is to get our gender reveal invites in the mail. I did a mock-up this weekend and need to do a few tweaks before sending. What do you think?

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend

Getting crispy update: The small gathering was great and it gave us a chance to catch up with some amazing friends. I was able to snip a few peonies from our yard for our centerpiece and kept everything else pretty simple.

The blueberry crisp was mind-blowing. Martha sure knows what she is doing. I served it warmed up in red Le Creuset ramekins with a scoop of french vanilla ice cream on top. So blissful!

Tonight we headed out for a mini date night at the Valley Junction Farmers’ Market. While walking around we wandered into this awesome antique store, Hinge. I can’t believe I walked out of there with empty hands, but don’t worry, I’m already plotting my return visit.

Hinge

I have the day off tomorrow and my to-do list is a mile long. On the docket: a morning workout, fresh pedicure, pick up a baby shower gift and put the finishing touches on my Father’s Day gift. If that wasn’t enough, I may even try to make a few returns and start designing my gender reveal invites. I’m sure to be busy until we meet up with friends for a little Iowa Cubs outing – fireworks included! I just hope the rain stays away…

Getting crispy

Big reveal update: This weekend we took it easy. Maybe a little too easy as it was extremely rough pulling myself out of bed Monday morning…

We are having a few friends over tomorrow for a little BBQ, so we spent the eve getting the house ready for guests. Marcus is going to whip up his juicy pulled pork (recipe here) and I am going to try out a new dessert recipe from Martha. Let’s see if mine can turn out as good as hers!

Big reveal

It’s the most wonderful time of the year update: The outpouring of love and excitement about our big news nearly brought me to tears. Or maybe that’s just the hormones. Who knows. What I do know is that this little baby is going to be welcomed into this world with lots of love surrounding him/her, and we can’t wait!

Baby B // 8 weeks

Marcus and I have decided to find out whether we are having a little lady or a dapper gent, so of course I’m in full gender reveal party planning mode. I know, it didn’t take long. We will be finding out in the middle of July and I’m kickin’ around a few ideas.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

Get Arrested update: On Friday night I was able to see the first two episodes of the new Arrested Development season. I love that the characters are back, but I’m still not sure I’m in love with it yet. We’ll see…

We had a pretty full weekend, including a trip to the Farmers’ Market, indulging in tasty pastries, a closet clean out and an impromptu brunch.

I have been keeping a little secret for some time now and am over the moon excited to announce that Marcus and I will be welcoming a sweet little bundle of joy into the world later this year. Guess that is one big to-do that will be crossed off my life list!

Going back, back to Cali update: It’s so hard to come back to reality after a trip like that. But I’ll just relive it now via some amazing vacay photos:

Going back, back to cali

Ahoy matey update: A weekend at the lake was the perfect chance for me to relax and enjoy my surroundings. This photo pretty much sums it up:

sunset lake panorama

I’m looking forward to the end of the week already because Marcus and I are heading out to California to celebrate our anniversary. We will be spending a few days in the Russian River Valley exploring wine country then head back in to San Fran for a few more days of sightseeing, shopping and spending time with family and friends.

Being the planner that I am, I have everything mapped out and ready to go. On our list of places we are trying out are the following:

WilliamHarrison[William Harrison Vineyards & Winery/St. Helena, CA]

JoLe[Jole: Farm to Table/Calistoga, CA]

HowardStationCafe[Howard Station Cafe/Occidental, CA]

And I’ll probably have to stop here (among other shops) while I’m in San Fran:

uniqlo[Uniqlo Union Station/San Francisco, CA]

Knowing how crazy fast this week will go, I probably won’t be back before we head out. Hope you all have a lovely, long weekend!

How does your garden grow update: Of course we picked the hottest night of the week to plant, but it was so nice waking up this morning and looking out on our deck to see our perfectly potted flowers.

We still need to put the finishing touches on our herb planter, but we are going with basil, thyme and rosemary this year. And like I said, I decided to whip up some DIY herb garden markers. Since we have so many wine corks lying around our house, I loved this idea.

This weekend we are heading up to the family lake house for a little R+R  and I can’t wait. If the weather cooperates, we might even get to take the new boat out. And what could possibly go better with a sunny boat ride than equally awesome boat shoes, like these:

How does your garden grow?

Seventh inning stretch update: Our weekend in KC was a success and the Yankees swept the Royals. It was a quick trip, but a good one.

Dad's 59th birthday[happy birthday dad!]

Morgan + Me [Morgie + me]

Since I was gone this weekend, I didn’t get the chance to do any of my spring planting. The plan is to pick out some flowers and herbs tomorrow and get down to business. Not sure what we are going to go with this year, but I definitely know I want to do a little garden-related DIY in the form of herb markers. There are so many neat ones you can buy (non-DIYers: see below), but why not try to make something homemade.

Moms FTW update: I popped in to one of my favorite East Village stores over lunch break today to snag some Mother’s Day presents. I highly recommend this little spot if you are local and are still looking for the perfect gift.

I am off again tomorrow to head back to Kansas City for the weekend. This time, we are heading in to catch a few Major League Baseball games. My beloved New York Yankees will be taking the field for a weekend series against the Royals and I can’t wait to see a few victories.
