First day in May

I can’t wait to hear that door bell ringing and the sound of children giggling as they run from your front porch to dive into their mom’s car. May Day is tomorrow!

This is one of those traditions I grew up with and will be forcing on my own children. I put together some cute sand pails that I snagged from the post-Easter sale at Target. Filled to the brim with summer goodies, I know the nieces will love them!

Another great idea is to make some homemade bread and wrap the loaves in a dish towel. Voila! The perfect May Day treat!May Day 2015 - basket 2

Still pulling together your May Day baskets? Need a last minute idea? Tie one of these tags to a candy bar and you’re good to go!

Table for two

We acquired a darling little bistro table set when we moved into our old town home. After a mini update to the seat cushions it mostly gathered dust in our screened in porch.

Old bistro set

Fast forward to present day and that little set just got another makeover. I picked up 3/4 a yard of outdoor fabric from Jo-Ann’s and made a trip to my local Ace Hardware for a can of Rustoleum hammered spray paint.

With a glass (or two) of wine and the help of a little staple gun, this project was finished before it had even started.

The newly refreshed set is now taking up residence on the deck off of our master bedroom. Not sure if it’ll get much use there, but darn does it look cute!

Obsessed: April showers

obsessions_AprilShowers

Marmot Precip Jacket: You can definitely tell that I purchased this white version (i.e. not practical) years before I became a mom, but I still love it. Stains and all!

Circo critter rain boots: After our little guy had a romp in the rain last weekend I figured it might be time to get him his own pair of rainboots.

Smith & Hawken boot tray: Even though mud does get tracked into the house, at least most of it is contained in our cute copper boot tray.

Joules wellies: I actually won this pair via a blog giveaway and have been obsessed with them ever since. They have come in quite handy when I need to head out into a soaked post-rain yard with our dog Karl.

Colorful umbrella: I’m currently rockin’ an old school green Coach brella that is on its last legs. This would be the perfect replacement.

Pink Sunday

PinkSunday

A lot like Black Friday but on neon-colored, preppy printed steriods.

So I’m sure some of you heard of the craziness that was the #lillyfortarget launch yesterday morning. A crashed website, bare clothes racks and a lot of pissed off ladies. As I type this there are already 30,000+ pieces on eBay with obscene markups, but I’m super happy to report that I managed the madness and snagged all sorts of cute stuff that I know I’ll be wearing for years to come.

Missed out on all the fun? Here are a few Lilly Pulitzer items that won’t break the bank.

Lilly love

You know I love me a good collab, so it should come as no surprise that I’ll be waiting outside the doors of Target at 8 a.m. this coming Sunday when the Lilly Pulitzer x Target collection hits stores.

Known for it’s punchy beach prints and most commonly found in the shore states, there is no reason why this land-locked lady can’t pick up a piece or two (ok, so maybe more) for the hot summer months ahead. Here are a few items I’m looking to add to my red cart:

Will you be shopping the collection?

Something French

So we did it! We booked our much-anticipated next trip abroad and this time we are off to France.

Bollinger

Marcus and I have traveled out of the country before and we always said that before we make our way down the road to baby #2, we would like to take off again.

And take off we will this upcoming October for eight glorious days. Our plan is to fly into Paris and spend a few days doing touristy stuff then head south to set up a home base in Avignon. From there we will rent a car and make day trips to surrounding Provencal towns. Sipping lots of amazing wine and feasting on bread and cheese alone along the way. We will end our trip on the rocky beaches of Nice before heading home to kiss our little guy a thousand times because we missed him like crazy.

Have you ever traveled to France? Any suggestions on things we shouldn’t miss?

Seersuckered

I know it might be a Southern fashion faux pas to wear seersucker before Memorial Day, but I just couldn’t resist this suit from Target that I picked up as Everett’s Easter attire. I mean, come on!

Our fam is a big fan of seersucker and can be seen sporting it throughout the summer months. Here are some great tips to keep in mind and a few ideas of how you can get seersuckered too!

Happy Easter

Easter wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the bunny. Everett was #notimpressed.

What’s hatching

Spring is here and with it comes a visit from the Easter Bunny.

We love spending the weekend with family and this year will be no different. We’ll be enjoying some tasty lamb at our annual Easter Eve dinner (we’re hosting this year!), attending morning Mass with my family and two separate feasts during the day.

A furry friend with a taste for carrots will also be descending on the log home for the first time. So in his/her honor, I’ve rounded up a great crop of goodies that any little bunny would love to find in their basket come Sunday morning.

Creative calm

I’ve been working lately on finding a few quiet moments during the day to focus on my creative side. In the past couple of weeks that came in the form of doing some light embroidery and (FINALLY) creating an official logo for my freelance design work.

I have found that doing something with my hands helps me slow down after a busy day of working and toddler rearing. And having a glass of vino near by helps too!

How do you slow down after a long day?
