If you’ve been a reader here for a while you know how much I love May Day. Last year I even made cupcake cones complete with fake dirt and worms. #boymom I’ve also created a FREE printable tags to tie on to some last-minute treats to take around to your neighbors.

This year, I ended up snagging some darling Target Dollar Spot Easter baskets on super clearance to be the vessel for some amazing plants that I picked up at Harvey’s Greenhouse in Adel over the weekend.

So this video made the rounds last week, but I just can’t stop thinking about it. Ludacris is one of my faves and I’m pretty sure I’ll never read a Llama Llama book again without thinking about him.

One of my favorite podcasts, Note to Self, recently did a week of challenges related to maintaining your privacy in the digital age. One of the practices during the Privacy Paradox was to use Apply Magic Sauce to translate your digital footprint into a psychological profile. So fun to see who the internet thinks you are!

Even though it’s rainy and yucky here today, I can’t help but think about summer and all the trips to the lake house/pool that it will bring. I’ve been eyeing these Birkenstock sandals which kind of remind of the ease of the boys’ Natives – they can get wet and are easy to clean off with some dish soap in the sink at the end of a busy day.

Life lately: the great outdoors

It’s already Thursday and I’m still thinking about last weekend…

It was nothing short of amazing. The temperature was warm, the birds were chirping and as you can see – we spent most of it outside.

Honey BBQ pigs in blankets

Just like any other family we are constantly looking for a quick week night recipe that is toddler-friendly and fun! With those two things in mind, I teamed up with Moore’s Marinades & Sauces to bring you the perfect meal: honey bbq pigs in blankets!

When I say easy, I mean three ingredients people! You can’t quite beat that.

Cut down your crescent rolls into mini triangles and wrap those piggies up tight!MooresMarinades2
Now, generously coat them with the special sauce and stick them in the oven. In about 15 minutes time, you have some golden poppers perfect for dipping.

This recipe is perfect for quick weeknight dinners, but I also plan to use it as an appetizer next week when we host our annual neighborhood meet-up. Quick, easy and satisfying.

LilacsIf you grew up in the 90s and were on the cutting edge of fashion, you may remember a certain platform sandal created by Steve Madden called the Slinky. Well, what is old is new again and the noisy nostalgic shoe is making a comeback (very much like chokers and overalls). Will you be in line to hop back into time?

Are you local and have young kids? The Iowa Association for the Education of Young Children Week of the Young Child kicks off this Sunday with a fun, interactive day at the Des Moines Art Center. Families can participate in hands-on activities specifically designed for early learners from 1-3 p.m.

The weather is just starting to warm up around these parts, but I’m already dreaming of weekend afternoons spent in the front yard. Instead of filling up the kiddie pool, I’m thinking this waterbed-esqe H2OGO! splash blob would be a nice change of pace. Bring on the swim trunks + endless popsicles!

Little looks: more tees please

During the warmer months, Everett’s daily uniform most likely consists of a t-shirt and shorts. Poor thing is a sweater just like his parents, so having a closet full of basic tees is best.

Most days I throw them on with some June & January lounge shorts or Cat & Jack pull-on shorts. Easy mix and match pieces = less drama for this mama. I’ve rounded up some tees that I think would be perfect for your kiddo too!

Easter weekend is no joke. It’s Tuesday morning and I am sipping my iced vanilla latte wishing for a few more days to fully catch up. Not gonna happen homegirl. Sorry for the radio silence folks…

I snagged a case of the pukes from my little carrier monkey (Everett) over the last weekend and have spent most of this week still in recovery mode. It’s amazing how children can bounce back from illnesses. Me? Not so much. I don’t think I’ve been that sick in quite a while.

I don’t necessarily do ‘downtime’ that well, so when I couldn’t nap during the day to recoup lost hours of sleep, I decided to check out the Netflix series called Abstract. I’m a couple of episodes in and really loving it!

We are looking forward to Easter festivities this weekend and I can’t wait for the boys to get decked out for the main event on Sunday. Everett will be sporting a preppy blazer that I thrifted for him and Fitz will be rocking some amazing seersucker suspender pants. #swoon

We don’t really have anything planned for Saturday morning, so I thought waking Ev up with this darling bunny toast would be a fun way to kick off the weekend.

Not a day goes by that I don’t step on one of Everett’s stupid plastic Paw Patrol characters. Rocky, Marshall and Chase are constantly referred to in our home and if that resonates with you, that must mean you are living #thattoddlerlife right now. I recently came across this wood peg version of the crew and am obsessed. Wish I would’ve known about these before I purchased all of the others… and the Paw Patroller.

Pretty sure after the past few weeks of no sun to be seen, we could all use a little Joy on Demand. I came across this short article about Google veteran, Chade-Meng Tan, and how he is urging us to find thin slices of joy. Something I think we could all use right now!

My favorite online retailer for children’s clothing, June and January, is having their big spring/summer drop tonight starting at 8PM CST and I can’t wait to score some killer basic for the boys. I’m eyeing some varsity shorts to show off Fitzie’s leg rolls and racerback tanks to keep Ev cool during the hot summer months ahead. My favorite colors for them: avocado and cobalt!
