A weekend at the lake with two littles felt a little long to me – and not in the good way. But you know what, that’s ok. Back to work this week and happy about it.

On a recent trip to Target I was drawn to these bright blue dip bowls in the kitchen section. I knew they would be perfect for pairing with meat + cheese trays for get togethers. Come to find out, they also have a colander + camp mug.
College football kicks off this weekend and we can’t wait to cheer on the Hawkeyes, so I rounded up a few of my favorite I-O-W-A looks: ringer tank, back in black, sweatshirt, baseball hat & distressed tee.
Old Navy’s fall gear is ON POINT – especially for the boys. I absolutely love this Hanna Anderrson look-a-like tee and the cutest quilted bomber jacket that I secretly want for myself!

Target is dropping a few new lines this Sunday, A New Day and Goodfellow & Co, but the new launch I have my eye on is coming in September – Project 62.
I must have lived in the south in a former life, because I sure do love a good monogrammed item. Like my homegirl Reese Witherspoon said, “My rule is, if it’s not moving — monogram it!”
When I’m not wearing my New York Yankees hat or reppin’ my squad with my red B hat, you can find me in my newly completed pink monogram baseball hat.
I have always loved the worn-in and embroidered look of Harding-Lane hats, so when I saw this Faded Glory hat at Wal-Mart recently, I knew I could make it my own with a few stitches.
To start I created a mock-up monogram online and printed it out in various sizes so that I could place it and see which one I liked best for the space.
Once I had the placement correct, I took it off and free-handed it using this water soluble transfer pen. 
I gave Marcus two thread colors to choose from (navy and teal) and this is what we ended up with!
I absolutely love how this turned out and I can’t wait to make a few more for family and friends. They make the perfect gift!
I was just at Wal-Mart last week, and found all of these fun fall colors. That blue!
Everett is movin’ on up to three year old preschool this week and I couldn’t be more proud of how much he has grown over the last year!
With back-to-school time comes new gear for the upcoming year, and at the pace that Everett is growing, we are going to be busting out of 4T in no time!

Considering how much time I spend in Target on an annual basis, I’m surprised this article wasn’t about me. But alas, I never did a maternity shoot. Guess I missed that opportunity…
When we were in Hays last weekend, we went shopping uptown and of course I found all sorts of things to bring back with me. But the best purchase was definitely this stemless stainless steel tumbler from Corkcicle.
We are fresh off of a 7+ hour road trip (one way!) with both of the boys over a long weekend to celebrate with my dad’s family at a reunion.
When heading out on a long trip with little ones, there are a few things that can potentially make your ride a little smoother.
Here are a few of my go-to items:
Diono Stow N’ Go Backseat Car Organizer: Stuff always ends up everywhere in the car when you are traveling, so it’s nice to have some sort of organization going on in the backseat. This one has seven full-sized pockets and two drink holders in a washable, waterproof fabric. #teamorganized
Skip Hop Changing Station: Changing kiddos in gross gas station bathrooms and random McDonald’s is just part of the whole “experience”, so I’m glad I always have this with me to put down on changing tables or (ewwww) floors when necessary.
Kidz Gear Headphones: It’s great when we can get Ev to watch a movie with headphones on because then I don’t have to hear Josh Groban sing “If you just believe” a thousand times.
Diono Travel Pal Storage: Designed to keep books and toys neat and organized, this bin helps corral all of our random toys that end up in the back seat.
RCA Dual Screen Mobile DVD Player: For long car rides, some screen time is a must for us. We have similar DVD players in my SUV and Everett loves to watch The Polar Express (one million times) when we are on the road.
Paint by Sticker book: This book of colorful stickers was just suggested to me and I think it would be the perfect workbook for in the car/on the go.
Vtech Touch and Swipe phone: Fitzie loves all of his Vtech gear, but the handheld phone is one of his faves. This definitely helped during our long ride to Hays this past weekend…when it didn’t end up thrown down the side of seat.
This past weekend we traveled back to my parents’ hometown of Hays, Kansas to attend a family reunion for my dad’s side. 108 out of 144 of us made it (my dad is one of 14!), and the boys had such a blast!
We are back to the grind this week, and still tired from the lack of sleep and long drives, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! #haasome
