Over the weekend we got to enjoy one of my favorite traditions as a child – the Beaverdale Fall Festival.

On Saturday AM, I got up after a rough night of sleep to hit the brick streets for the Beaverdash 5K. I love running into my grade + high school bestie (and her sister) every year, but this one was even more special because we got to take a pic with Dale!

The weather was very un-fall like, which was a bummer, but the kids didn’t seem to mind! They had a blast collecting bags full of candy and treats.

After a quick cool down and some pizza at Aunt Mo’s house, the older kids decided to check out the carnival rides. As I sat there feeling queasy, watching them spin in circles, I wondered to myself how I was ever able to ride those things!

Friday faves

If your littles are anything like mine, they love themselves some Thomas the Train. When the number one tank engine came for a visit to the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad last year we took Everett and he had a blast! Well, he is back in town starting this weekend and this time around both boys are climbing aboard with their auntie. Choo-choo!

One of my absolute favorite events of the year is upon us – Beaverdale Fall Festival. Kicking off this evening and running through tomorrow night, you can join in on all the neighborhood fun. I grew up with the fondest memories of the carnival rides and bingo games inside my grade school gymnasium, and it is so fun to get to share those things now with my boys!

A fellow blogger posted that she picked up this darling sherpa coat for one of her boys, and now I can’t stop thinking about it. I mean, Everett needs it, right?

Little looks: fall faves

It’s hard to believe that we are already into September, but alas, here we are. I’ve been focusing on picking up items for the boys over the last few weeks to fill in some missing gaps within their fall wardrobe.

I’m especially obsessed with the pre-order I placed this morning for some amazing items from Childhoods Clothing. They are a fave of mine and the pre-order (going on NOW) will run for 48 hours. Some of these items can be hard to snag during new releases, so I love that they are allowing a pre-order. Basically, I want toffee everything for fall!

You guys already know that I’m soooo ready for fall + Halloween, so it should come as no surprise that I did a little happy dance when I saw that Freeform announced that they were going from 13 to 31 nights of Halloween this year! Check out the full lineup.

Target is launching a new line, Prologue, on September 14 and I can wait to see the pieces IRL. I’m especially interested in how this long tweed overcoat looks on!

Pumpkins are popping up everywhere and I can’t wait to pick up a few. Thinking it might be fun to paint some this year and I’ve found a lot of great inspo all over the web. I think some gingham pumpkins would really look great on our stoop.

Labor Day weekend has come and gone. I’m ready to make the switch, are you?

Fall is by far my most favorite season of the year and I want it to last as long as humanly possible. I am counting down the days until cooler temps prevail and I can whip out my favorite stretchy jeans and leggings, super cozy sweaters, the perfect flannel shirt and huge scarves.

I was tipped off to these tinted lip balms by a fellow mama blogger, and I can’t say enough good things about them. The pixi pink is perfect and I’m loving the ripe raspberry as we head into cooler months.

I wanted to look the part during Fitzie’s French-themed birthday party so I purchased a silk scarf off of Amazon to tie around my neck. Well, now I’ve been wearing it non-stop in my hair and ponytails.

This weekend is the last chance to catch the Iowa Cubs during their last home stand of the season. As “summer” comes to a close this Labor Day weekend so does Triple-A baseball in DSM. Go get a dog and take in a game!

TTD home: fall favorites

There is nothing I love more than decorating for the holidays. I always tend to jump the gun a little bit towards the end of summer and this year is no different.

When gourds and pumpkins start to hit the shelves in September, I try to restrain myself but it is useless. My front porch set-up and the rest of my decorations usually follow shortly after.
