Obsessed: is it summer yet?

With recent weekend trips to Panora to get the lake house ready for the season I’m getting quite anxious for summer to hurry up and get here already.

IsItSummerYet

J.Crew grid dot high-waist brief: Swimsuit shopping post-babe can be terrifying, but my sis told me about these darling retro bottoms and I can’t wait to pair them with my regular solid suit tops. More coverage is always a plus!

Baby’s first Yankees baseball cap: The Haas Family usually makes an annual pilgrimage to Kansas City to catch the Royals/Yankees series and this summer is no different. I can’t wait to put this on Evie and “root, root, root for the Yankees”.

RayBan Wayfarers: I do not leave the house without my tortoise sunnies. And when I do I blame it on the fact that I’m most likely carrying 25 bags.

Plastic kids Adirondak chair: Snagged this at Walmart the other weekend for just $4.97! TOO CUTE.

Pottery Barn Kids wave nursery wrap: I snagged this beach towel wrap for little E earlier this month and can’t wait to bust it out at the lake this summer. Of course I had to monogram it.

Hop to it

With Iowa weather starting to kind of cooperate it makes me so excited about springtime and with the spring comes rainboots, lilacs and Easter. After such an early one last year (we announced we were expecting at dinner!) it is nice to have it back toward the end of April. We will be spending our first Easter as a family of three with our loved ones, eating delicious food and trying not to o.d. on Reese’s Eggs. How will you spend yours?

I don’t need an excuse to buy things for my little guy, but have been using his first visit from the Easter Bunny as my main reason for picking up all sorts of goodies. I’ve put together a little basket filler round-up for the entire family – enjoy!

Opening day

Today is opening day for my team, the New York Yankees. I know what you are all thinking. WHY THE YANKEES?

Growing up on a farm in western Kansas, the only games that my dad could get on the radio were those of the navy pinstripe variety. Ever since then he’s been a die hard fan and brought his three girls up loving them just as much.

My first grade school crush was The Captain, Derek Jeter, who will be embarking on his final season with the team this year. (Tear.) I had his picture plastered all over my locker and even managed to get his autograph at Spring Training one year.

Many kids grow up the same way, liking the team their parents root for, and it is this tradition that I can’t wait to pass on to Evie. Gotta start ’em early!

Obsessed: back to basics

ttdobsessions_backtobasics

Mossimo high-waisted skinny denim: I have three different pairs of skinnies from Mossimo and I love them all to death, or in my case, inner thigh tear. I purchased the high-waisted version to cover my newly acquired mummy tummy (a work in progress) and they fit like a dream.

Palmer’s cocoa butter formula lip balm: Also known for their cocoa butter lotion for post-pregs stretch marks (which I also use), my little sis turned me on to their lip balm and I have never turned back. Plus, it’s SPF 15 – gotta protect that pout!

Colorful blooms in Kate Spade glasses: I picked up two random polka-dotted KS glasses on sale a couple of years ago and they make the perfect vases. Lately I’ve been filling them with hot orange Costco roses.

Bonnie Jonas initial earrings: Received these as a Valentine’s Day gift from my mom (she’s the best!) and love to wear them when I’m not in pearls.

Lululemon Warehouse Sale in Minneapolis: I’m ob-sessed with my new Lulu Wunder Under Roll Down pants, so I can’t wait to make the trip up north to see what kind of deals I can snag at the sale this weekend.

Snap happy

Before Everett, I used to whip out my phone to show people pictures of our darling German Shorthaired Pointer, Karl. Now that we have a baby on board, my memory card is full of Evie photos and videos. Just the other day I got the dreaded notice that I couldn’t save a picture because there wasn’t any space.

So this is what my life has come to. I’m a snap happy mom. I guess I can deal with that.

Here are a few gems from my latest purge:

Obsessed: baby mama

As of today I have decided to make my obsessions a reoccurring post topic. I am still infatuated with my last picks and I think it’ll be a nice way to share items, ideas and all sorts of fun stuff that is rattling around in my brain.

Since the past twelve weeks have been spent in mom mode, I figure it is only right for an obsessed: baby mama edition…

ttdobsessions_babymama

Batiste dry shampoo: For those days when taking a shower eludes you.

Instagram Viewfinder: My sister gave Everett one of these for his baptism complete with a reel of his first photos. Amazing gift idea!

C.O. Bigelow lip tint: The link is to a similar version of the original which I have (and is pictured above), but this stuff is great for pulling yourself together. Even if your hair is in a messy bun and you don’t have any makeup on, a little swipe of this and you are good to go.

Shutterfly: Love this company. I created Everett’s birth announcements online and they turned out great! Up next, a hard bound photo book.

Scandal: While on maternity leave (during the many hours spent breastfeeding) I had the chance to watch a lot of TV. Enter Olivia Pope and all that is SCANDAL! It’s a real addiction.

Aden + Anais burpy bibs: Registry item must have! These burp rags also double as bibs and with cute little critters and patterns, what’s not to love?
