Let’s get it poppin’ update: I did not let the unbearable (oppressive even) heat keep me away from the Pops concert tonight. It was just as much fun as I remembered from last year. There is something so special about sitting on the steps of your state’s capitol listening to the symphony blaring patriotic tunes while massive fireworks explode in the background. Amazing. American.

Tomorrow I will celebrate our Independence Day the only way I know how – with a good ‘ol parade. Check out the pictures of the Bean at the Urbandale parade last year.
