Anaheim Steamrollers Update: O-M(annheim)-S(teamroller)-G! I just got home from the concert, and it was everything I could’ve hoped for, and more! They played all the classics and ended the show with my fave, Carol of the Bells. And just when I thought my Christmas wishes had come true, they went on to play 3 more encore songs. The entire time I sat there, I thought about how fun it was to grow up with their music during the holidays and how I can’t wait to share it with my kids some day.
Tomorrow’s to do consists of heading over to my parents house in the evening to prepare for the 6th Annual Christmas Bus Party that will be taking place on Thursday night. Since I have to work on Thursday and the fun starts at 7pm, I won’t have time to help with the decor (my favorite part), so I told my mom I’d be coming over to help out tomorrow night instead.
First off, let me fill you in on the Christmas Bus shenanigans. I have a group of friends (most from high school) that get together every year before Christmas and go around ‘on da bus’ to a few of our parents’ houses for some holiday cheer. My parents always host a stop with a secret theme, and this year is no different. Here is a list of our past themes:
2005: Haas Haus Holiday (German-themed) – complete with soft pretzels, Warsteiner and my dad in lederhosen.
2006: Santa’s Workshop – Candy strung through the entryway, my mom dressed as Santa, my older sister as Mrs. Claus, my younger sister as an elf, my dad as Buddy the Elf (classic!), and Legal the Beagle as a reindeer.
2007: Mele Kalikimaka, A Hawaiian Holiday – handmade poinsettia leis for everyone and hula skirts for the hosts
2008: Santa’s Safari – Jungle Juice served to each party-goer by a gorilla (my dad) and accompanied by a zebra, elephant and safari-ans.
2009: Holiday Haasquerade – Ornate masquerade masks for the hosts and homemade holiday masks for the bus group.
And the theme for 2010 (drum roll, please) is…a secret. You’ll have to tune in to the next couple of posts to find out.
